RIA thank you for the awesome response to our cultural registration.
We are set to have a great show this year and take this community event to a new high!
To,
Robert Johnson,
Principal Evergreen Middle School,
Redmond, WA.

Sub: Request for permission to rent Evergreen Middle school on 10/24 and 10/25 to celebrate Diwali - Festival of lights.

Sir,

Redmond Indian Association (RIA), is a non-profit formed by passionate residents of Redmond Ridge to promote and preserves Indian culture. RIA organizes various festivals and provides a wonderful opportunity to share cultural traditions with our diverse community and strives to better integrate communities.

Of all the festivals celebrated in India, “Diwali” is one of the most glamorous and important. Its magical and radiant touch creates an atmosphere of joy and festivity. It is a festival of lights symbolizing the victory of righteousness and the lifting of spiritual darkness. It celebrates the victory of good over evil - and the glory of light.

Continuing the tradition and grand success of last eight Annual Diwali Festivals, we celebrated Ninth Annual Diwali Festival at the Rosa Parks Elementary School at Redmond Ridge on Saturday, November 2nd 2013. This event was attended by over 600 folks.

State Senator Andy Hill, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the proceedings by lighting Diya (traditional candle). He briefly addressed the gathering and wished them. He also gave away the "Above & Beyond" award, an annual award instituted by RIA, which is given to organizations / individuals that go above & beyond for greater community good. RIA 2013 "Above & Beyond" recipient was Asha for Education, Seattle Chapter. Asha is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing about socio-economic change in India primarily through education.

Mayor John Marchione, City of Redmond, kindly recorded a special video Diwali greeting message for RIA, since he was not able to attend in person.

The grandeur nature of this event was made possible by an awesome team of volunteers. All our events are totally completely volunteer driven and are not for profit.

We would like to rent Evergreen Middle School this year to celebrate Diwali on 10/24 and 10/25. This
year we will have over 150 participants (mostly kids, many of them are students of Evergreen Middle) for our culture show.

This will be an evening to remember and will consist of:
  • Traditional Reception
  • Above & Beyond Award
  • 2 hours of spectacular music and dance performance
  • Delicious catered Indian Buffet
  • Foot tapping Bollywood music played by a DJ
  • Contest Prizes - Painting, Rangoli, and Check Your DQ
  • Kids Activities
  • Raffles
  • Event photography and portraits

We sincerely request you to grant permission to bring this awesome event to your school.

Look forward to partnering with you!

Cheers!
Vinod Sharma
